Line Boring
We use a comprehensive selection of tapered and line boring bar systems to meet rigorous job requirements. Our standard equipment can machine bores up to 24’ long and from 1.25” to 49.5” in diameter. When a job calls for a larger bore size, we can manufacture custom cutter assemblies and other solutions to meet almost any requirement. In addition, each boring bar system can be modified to mount on any seating surface or angle needed to ensure precise machining.
Honing
When a precise bore or finish is required, we combine a wide range of portable honing equipment with our in situ boring equipment to hit an exact size on an inside diameter. This procedure allows close-tolerance bores and achieves specific surface finishes. Collins Machine Works uses portable spring, box and arbor hones, along with a broad selection of stock abrasives that guarantee flexible solutions and quick turnarounds.
Flange Facing
Flanges need repair to their surfaces due to corrosion and erosion of the gasket seal, which cause damage to the mating surfaces. We provide on-site repair to all size flanges. Our flange facers are capable of mounting to both inside and outside diameters of the flange or bore to allow for machining in extremely constrained environments. Collins Machine Works flange facing operations can be used in many applications, such as cutting grooves, chamfers and bevels, and for the facing of the flange. As with our other services, we can provide custom mounting and machining solutions for nonstandard requirements.
Milling & Keyway Cutting
On-site machining mills are available for machining flat or misaligned surfaces to reestablish new or preexisting plains. Our portable mills can machine surfaces up to 120” long on one setup and cut keyways on all size shafts. This service is often used in concert with our in-place welding with great results.
